How Your Past Can Boost Your Future Success
/By Coach Sean
We can all be guilty of looking for the best, new thing. Sometimes, that’s necessary. However, time and experience can be excellent teachers for us!
People often think about how experience helps you avoid bad mistakes, but your previous experience can also show you how to be successful in your present situation.
One researcher said that “When we recall victories from winning strategies, positive behavior is reinforced. The dopamine release builds confidence and increases the chances the person will make quick, clear decisions when faced with similar situations.”
We are wired to learn from our successes, perhaps even more than from our mistakes. The next time you find yourself stuck in a rut and desperately trying to gain momentum on a project, ask yourself, “what has worked for me in the past?”
So often we forget those strategies, ideas, and rhythms that have made us successful. Maybe it was a particular work process, instead of always trying to reinvent the process, ask yourself, “what has helped me before?” You may be surprised at how your past successes can translate into present victories!
